Main Focus

I am interested in orangutan behaviour and conservation.

My research aims to understand how juvenile orangutans acquire critical survival skills from their mothers and peers during their progression to independence. My project investigates different aspects of the development of ecological competence, including decision making in daily movement trajectories, and the development of foraging and food recognition skills. My fieldwork is conducted at the SUAQ orangutan research project, Suaq Balimbing monitoring station in South Aceh, Indonesia.
