Main Focus
Vocal communication plays an important role in negotiating social interactions for animals that live in fission-fusion societies. I am particularly interested in studying the formation of dialects and how social factors influence vocal culture within groups. In my PhD, I study the underlying processes and mechanisms of communication in parrots using both captive cockatiels and wild monk parakeets as model systems.
